FOUR CORNERS

I am so used to feeling alone.
Coming home
straight to the room,
where the four corners creep in on me.

I am so used to being sick
and tired
of the same old voices in my head.
You should be….
You can’t be….

I am so used to the cold shoulder
that it’s freezing here.

How do you break a “used to…?”
Constantly bending and shaking
the box that hold all my secret fairy tales
to come bursting open?

Or do I wait,
and wait
and wait
and not try to get rid of it?
Just hope that it will change
until all the hope runs out.

And the four corners will creep in
covered in “I told you so….”
